Christian Yelich Runs Away With NL MVP Award

Christian Yelich topped Nolan Arenado and Javier Baez to take home National League MVP honors on Thursday night.

Yelich received 29 of 30 first-place votes and 415 points. Jacob deGrom received the only other first place vote, but finished fifth.

"It's unbelievable," he said. "It's really hard to put into words right now. You never dream of winning an award like this."

Yelich hit .326/.402/.598 in 147 games with 36 home runs and 110 RBI in his first season with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Mookie Betts Tops Mike Trout, Jose Ramirez For AL MVP

The Boston Red Sox won the World Series and the dream season continues for Mookie Betts, who was named the American League MVP on Thursday.

Betts also won the batting title, recorded a 30/30 season, earned a Gold Glove and led all of baseball in slugging percentage.

"Yeah, it's been a pretty good 2018," he said. "I enjoy these moments while I can because 2019, hopefully we can make it better."

The voting was near unanimous for Betts as he took 28 of the 30 first-place votes and was second on the remaining two ballots. Mike Trout finished second, while Jose Ramirez was third.

Jacob deGrom, Blake Snell Win Cy Young Awards

Jacob deGrom and Blake Snell each won their first Cy Young award on Wednesday.

deGrom took home National League honors after leading all of baseball in ERA. The New York Mets right-hander received 29 first-place votes and 207 points.

"I want to thank the baseball writers for this honor," deGrom said. "I'm extremely humbled to win this award along with some other great former Mets such as Tom Seaver, Dwight Gooden and R.A. Dickey. I'd especially like to thank my teammates, coaching staff and my family."

Snell was the American League winner in his first full Major League season. The Tampa Bay Rays lefty went 21-5 with a 1.89 ERA, and he led all starters with a .178 batting average allowed.

He earned 17 first-place votes and 169 points in voting.

Ronald Acuna, Shohei Ohtani Win Rookie Of Year Honors

Ronald Acuna, Jr. and Shohei Ohtani were named Rookie of the Year in the National and American League, respectively.

Acuna of the Atlanta Braves received 27 first-place votes and three seconds for 144 points. Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals got two firsts and 89 points, and Walker Buehler of the Los Angeles Dodgers was next with one first and 28 points.

Ohtani earned 25 of 30 first-place votes to run away with the award. The other five votes went to the New York Yankees' Miguel Andujar, who finished as runner-up. He becomes the fourth Japanese-born player to win Rookie of the Year.

The Red Sox had the most players in the American League named as Rawlings Gold Glove winners, with right fielder Mookie Betts, center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. and second baseman Ian Kinsler receiving honors Sunday night.

The National League's Gold Glove winners featured a tie at first base, with the honor going to both the Braves' Freddie Freeman (first award) and Cubs' Anthony Rizzo (second).
